Week 2

The next few weeks we will be practicing in stations to learn the basics. Things such as double flaring brake lines, drilling and tapping a hole, inserting a helicoil, and using micrometers and calipers to measure things.

I originally worked as a temp at Detroit Diesel in the Block Repair department. Part of my duties were to drill out threads that couldn't be cleaned or were broken and re-tap them. It's nice to get a refresher as that was 2-3 years ago I can't remember the exact times.

In brakes class we are still practicing with different brake systems and learning about more of the components like the compressor and air dryer.

  1. Good post, Dalton. Glad to know you have had previous experience in threading, and repair of threads. We will come to you frequently!
