Turbo Inspections

In the Diesel world it is not just about wrenching on things. You need other skills to succeed such as the ability to write coherently and fill out  repair orders correctly. Our team already had our turbo off so we used Cummins Quickserve to look up the inspection procedure and had to make a write up to go with it.

I went online and found a template made in Excel for our team to use. I edited the title and used our group name and some fake information to make it look legit. We had to fill out info such as the VIN number, odometer, color of the truck, and technicians involved.

Due to other projects we only had a half hour to work on the turbo project. We only go to the visual inspection that had us checking the exhaust manifold, turbo flange, the turbo casing, and the visible shafts for cracks and abnormalities.

We did find time to fix a previous mishap. I forget if this is the oil inlet or return but either way a team member broke the bolt and is seen above attempting to extract the bolt.

  1. Good job, Dalton! Hmm, maybe a reflection on that encompasses: " when removing bolts, exercise care when bolts are hard to remove."
